Other than a brief ride up to the shops for groceries this morning, I spent the entire day at home or outside in the garden. We'd borrowed a hedge-grimmer and chainsaw, so much of that time in the garden was spent up a ladder attacking an overgrown pittosporum hedge, a hedge that's grown wildly up and out of control over the past ten years or so. Embedded inside it were various nests and bundles of sticks, I can remember that the Spotted doves[1] had one of their incredibly flimsy nests in there some years, and the blackbirds[2] seemed to always be darting in and out, but I never found their nest. The giant mat of twigs was probably put there by a possum, I'm not sure if it was a ringtail[3] or a brushtail[4], we see and hear both kinds bounding over the roof and running along the fence but I don't know which ones rested up in the hedge during the day. Luckily no wildlife in here today, just the remnants
