Heading out for my daily ride there was a tiny flash of feathers from down on the lawn up into the bay tree, a Thornbill[1] vanishing up into the safety of the all-encompassing leaves. I often hear them in there, but they're tiny and shy, so they're rarely seen. Between them and the occasional Silvereye[2] they'd be the smallest birds we see in the garden.
Then getting the bike out there was a loud calling from overhead, a pair of Little ravens[3] flew past to rest in the bay for a while, then flew off further west. I know they nested up in the high branches a few years ago, I'm not sure if they're back up there getting ready for this spring — the foliage is so dense there could be anything up there! They might have "little" in their name but they'd be the largest bird that we typically have in the garden, other than a few oddball over-flights.
So there we go, smallest to largest and both in brief two minute window.
