Nearly two weeks since I last wrote, a big gap, I was feeling like packing it in and stopping what I jot down here, it got to be a chore and felt entirely too forced.
Not much to see in the world today, a few squawky feral bird noises in the garden, I was thinking that I'd have to keep my eyes open on an afternoon bike ride down through the creek-side parks and wetlands when there was a call from the family out in the front garden. There on the fence above the mock orange bush was a gorgeous — and quite well fed — Praying mantis[1] making its way along the palings. Well camoflagued against the green of the bush it stood out like a sore thumb against the dull grey of the fence palings. Sorry to tell you this miss — fairly sure it was a female — but that jerky rocking motion disguising yourself as a branch doesn't work so well when you're lime green against a dull grey piece of timber!
