An afternoon bike ride around my default loop; down to Gardiners creek trail, up the Anniversary trail and down Ferndale track to the Glen Iris wetlands and poke around for a bit, then home along Gardiners creek track, Darling road and Djerring trail.
Almost ten millimetres of rain fell yesterday so the wetlands are mudlands today, very full and turbid. Surprisingly little birdlife to be seen; a few Dusky moorhens[1] and Coots[2] paddling maddling and honking loudly, a couple of Black duck[3] and some Little wattlebird[4] and Noisy miners[5] in the bushes. No sign of the turtle[6] or the large carp[7] in the ponds.
