Sunny and bright autumn morning on the ride to work, all the gum trees are flowering along the Djerring trail and around the edge of Monash Uni campus. The lorikeets are shrieking in the tree tops and flying back and forth from one to the other; flashes of green and orange from the Rainbow lorikeets[1], a slightly darker green all over for the Musk lorikeets[2].
Nothing much else to see; a few Crested pigeons[3] foraging beside the path and a pair of Spotted dove[4] sunning themselves on a fence. Some currawongs[5] and magpies calling from up in the pine trees, and a loud solitary raven[7] as I rode in to campus.
