After the rain of the last few days everything is damp, fungi are sprouting, there's debris here and there along creek-side paths -- nothing as bad as a few hundred kilometres north though!
Around to Glen Iris wetlands under gloomy grey skies, only a few shrieking Noisy miners[1] telling me off along the way. No birdlife to see in the ponds, although there's frogs to be heard. No turtle in the first pond, no birds from the bird hide, then around at the boardwalk on the second pond the water level is up to around 20-30cm and some very large European carp[2] and cruising around stirring up mud and digging for food. They must be at least 50cm long, in some places the water shallow enough that dorsal fin, tail and some of their back sticks out of the water like a blobby kind of shark.
