A grey rainy autumnn morning with a light drizzle falling, half a millimetre of rain overnight and everything in the garden wet. Perhaps its the dull light, perhaps the lack of other sounds, but it seems to enhance the bird sounds we can hear. There's a pair of magpies[1] up on the railway powerlines again, warbling away. Rainbow lorikeets[2] are streaking overhead from tree to tree, always loud when it rains. From across the railway comes the loud Raaarrk! Raaark! of two screeching Sulphur-crested cockatoos[3], probably searching for fruit in garden trees.
