From a minimal note elsewhere, "Ibis ytbc gang gang yesterday's ride" is all it said (written on the 9th, referring to riding from Waurn Ponds to Aireys Inlet)
I'd caught the train from Melbourne down to Waurn Ponds, then ridden from there south through Freshwater Creek to Bellbrae and along the Great Ocean Road as far as Aireys Inlet, along the way I passed a huge flock of Straw-necked Ibis[1] in a paddock on the outskirts of Waurn Ponds — far more attractive than the bin chicken (the Australian white ibis that's made its home in cities and parks).
There must have also been both Yellow-tailed Black[2] and Gang-Gang cockatoos[3] on the ride, but so much time has elapsed that I can't remember where or how many of them there were
