HNPLGY-O [QUIET]

This is a gemlog for the SpellBinding puzzle, in which you construct words using the specified letters (each word must contain the anchor letter).

Play SpellBinding

GLOP GLOPPY GOLLY GONG GOOG GOOGLY GOOGOL GOON GOONY HOLOGYNY HOLLY HOLY HOOP LOGO LOLL LOLLY LONG LOON LOONY LOOP LOOPY LYON NOON NYLON ONLY OOLOGY OOLONG PHONOLOGY PHONON PHONY PLOP PLOY POLL POLO POLONY POLYGON POLYGYNY POLYP POLYPHONY PONY POOH POOL POOP POOPY POPPY PYLON

Pangram: PHONOLOGY

It's always a relief to wake up to SpellBinding (and now, Wordo) functioning perfectly...

HOLOGYNY: traits inherited solely in the female line

LYON: What the **** is it doing here? I swear I removed it a few times now! I think a bunch of puzzles were made prior to the great purge, and I need to keep an eye open for stragglers.

OOLOGY: study of bird eggs. I've always liked the OO words... OOLONG tea, thankfully, has nothing to do with eggs.

PHONOLOGY - kind-of like it sounds - is the science of speech sounds, or the phonetics and phonemics of a language.

PHONON is a quantum of vibrational energy.

POLONY - I thought I'd missed it as someone complained, but after all I did not - is a british sausage of some kind.

POLYGYNY, as discused earlier, is a gender-agnostic version of POLYGAMY. POLYP is either a sea animal or that thing on your colon that needs to be burnt off.

POOH, is just an exclamation. I am fond of the word because my teddybear's name was Vinny Pooh.(hard H). Not quite a hyperforeignization, what is the damn word for phonetically mis-sounding of a foreign word (using the sounds of your language), especially a name? Transliteration is not quite right, as sound is not the main goal of the conversion. Cyrillization is the word I am looking for.

Another day.
