Evolution is a wonderful thing, over the generations, the birds and animals that trip over, run into walls or fly into things generally die earlier than those that don't, so they have fewer offspring. Generally you don't see outright clumsiness, but today at lunch I had a great example
Sitting in the front garden eating my lunch I could hear the ubiquitous Noisy miners[1] calling as they chased something, anything, everything, out of what's considered “their territory” — typically anywhere and everywhere that they are. I looked up to see a miner chasing a much larger Little raven[2] across the street at about 30cm altitude and over our garden. For some reason the raven didn't climb quite high enough to clear the fence and there was quite a thump as a wing hit the top of pickets, perhaps it was deliberate in trying to get the miner to hit too…
