A light misty rain and a very dull overcast sky as I went out for my morning walk, up through the park as usual. Much the same sounds as usual, birds in the trees and bushes can be heard, but few seen. No sound of the illegal rooster today, perhaps its not light enough for him yet, perhaps he has become chicken soup
There's the strident call of a Mudlark[1] as it flew in from across the railway, answered by another somewhere back in the gardens it came from. Up above me a small mob of Rainbow lorikeets[2] are shrieking and chattering to each other, at least I can see them as they walk around in the eucalypts, feeding on the blossoms. A solitary Little raven[3] calls loudly, answered from a distance by another somewhere north, and pairs of Magpies[4] and Butcherbirds[5] warble and chortle back and forth to each other
[1] Magpie lark, peewee, mudlark
