Out on my afternoon ride off along the Anniversary trail and north through the older leafy suburbs, the usual mix of semi-urban birds and nothing much catching my attention. Passing behind one small group of shops I can hear people in a cafe courtyard the other side of the fence from me, and on the fence a Little raven[1] is perched, looking down at them and presumably waiting for a chance to steal scraps. Sadly, the poor thing had a hugely overgrown top beak with a hook around 5cm long protruding out and down. Seemed well enough otherwise, so I guess its learned how to feed itself, like the half-beak Currawong I see occasionally at home
