This happens to me every so often, and I am old enough to just let it roll off. I've hit a local low. My brain function is at a sad level, and I am muddled and confused about simple things. I must not do anything important for a few days. I managed to sign myself out of my Amazon account on the TV trying to get to Netflix. Doi.
Actually I am definitely past the low. I stepped up excercise, and ran a couple of miles today on the treadmill in addition to a ton of walking, way more than double my target. That generally helps.
To avoid fucking things up or thinking too much about things that are not positive, I've been binging TV shows. I am a fan of the time-travel genre I suppose.
'Timeless' on Hulu was fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously. Just for fun - travel to different time periods, meet important people (surprising number of non-white important people as a bonus). A chance to dress up in period costumes, etc.
I was amused by almost total disregard for the police -- corrupt idiots, it's ok to knock them out. But there was a lot of respect for the founding fathers. I mean, since we are past the butterfly effect here, killing random people and changing the future, why go crazy about saving the lives of terrible people like Jefferson? Can the world be that much worse off without them? I mean Franklin at least tried to atone at the end of his life, but these fucks were pretty awful...
Makes me wonder -- would we be worse off today if we had stayed under British or French rule? I doubt it, looking around (with a disgusted expression). But I must not rant today.
I am really enjoying this one. Special effects are good - which today is something! Any jackass with a mac can render stuff that was unthinkable two decades ago - without a team of animators and roomfuls of servers...Anyway, it is fun to watch Peripheral, especially on my big OLED 4K TV.
Based on some Gibson story (or novel?), it has everything you want in a time-travel show. And time-travel is explained in a way that is not completely stupid, which is a plus. Plot twists are good, acting is good. It's still being doled out (4 episodes out so far) on Fridays, and I strongly recommend.
