WTF: Ubuntu Mouse Bug

Every now and then a WTF issue comes up. By which I mean some bug which appears to be there for years, comes and goes, and does not get fixed.

All of a sudden my left mouse button stopped functioning. Everything else worked - the pointer moved, right/middle buttons are fine, the wheel works. Unplugging/replugging did not help. I assumed it was a faulty switch, but just in case, googled the issue.

Guess what? It's a thing, going back to 2019, at least.

Solution: Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch to a text console, then Ctrl-Alt-F7 to switch back into X. And bingo, it works. WTF.

Now I did upgrade to a Das 4 keyboard, which is when the problem appeared (and I've now clocked it 3 times in that many days). So perhaps it's a USB shart, given that USB is a total unreliable, complex and idiotic piece of shit. Changing a keyboard should not render your mouse useless a day later. How did we allow manufacturers to do this to us? Today's computers are literally defective-by-design devices in more ways than imaginable.
