So there I was at home on days off from work, and I knew I wanted to figure out root on my Gemini PDA. In the years I have owned this device, I have never gotten successful root. I was also dissatisfied with boot up speed and speed in general.
So, I went ahead and wiped and reflashed the device. One thing that I have consistantly not done is install TWRP Recovery. This was of course a mistake. A larger mistake was not sticking with a period-correct version of Magisk. I installed Magisk Manager 7.1.2 and Magisk 19.1 (flashed via TWRP). This ws the solution. After this I installed De-Bloater from F-Droid and 86'd the majority of the Planet apps and Google Apps. The device is booting faster, and it feels more like a computer - in that it feels customized and "mine" more than a cookie cutter mobile device.
In my line of work, I am only typically home on weekends, and sometimes I have to skip weekends at home. The local USPS hub is Salt Lake City, Utah. It is three hours away. I only order things online based upon if it'll be there when I get home. If it is something I am willing to wait for, then so be it. However, if the vendor states that I'll get an item on my time at home, and that item makes it to the SLC USPS hub and just sits there for two days so that now I do not get the item for a week or more - that is infuriating. I could have driven there and picked it up my damn self. Ranting over...
