searching for a very specific flute
played from the front as though trumpet
my helpful companions have provided well
instruments
seven recorders in ancient wood, a traditional flute
an actual trumpet mouthpiece and some grease
and finally, a codpiece like a slide whistle
four flowers in silver upon its side
embossed
do not play the codpiece, they say
until you are truly ready for inspiration
and aye, come what may, I cannot say
with any candor, I ��d ever wish to remain
uninspired
drawing deep breath, deeper
then from my trousers a moaning honk
as though a goose were struck by lightning
unprepared
