there ��s a stillness the dead don ��t have
one might carry in one ��s pockets
beside pulse at the hip �� a pause
laying aside the beatings one ��s known
the hiding and home one ��s abandoned
before finding that duty �� on the road
voluntary measure of one ��s lone
customary and contracted both
leaning into machined iron �� alone
in static unmeasured by waystation
waiting for that breaker to come
combing in low roll �� like master
until unfolding one ��s trim sail
one tacks into heat easy as breathing
dust sea eddying low filter ��
the dead don ��t have
