eventually, I will just give up on spelling
claim that I stand upon soft linguistic ground
that sound notions of spelling retell losses
cosseted over time by graven symbols
buried in peat and taken up, smoked
one malt at a time, infused into that gestalt
swilled, deep and thirsty, dashed
one rock at a time, upon mechanical correction
white sauce slippage of grey matter sifted
in yelling inarticulately at transcription
autodidact twain lain contrasting explanations
missing diacriticals, but dying of them
all the same
