in writing about Furies
my material was returned to me for edits
with a note suggesting that I might rethink
as furries were perhaps not the audience
I was looking for
to which I replied
that the Furies were maybe not
what the editor thought
but by the gods
they will be
vengeance arrives dressed however they will
taking their fill, taking their fill
for those who cannot still
whether suited for glory
or by that sulfuric river
sipping, sipping victory
