having been told to go live my best life
there was some rummaging in the pantry
flour, sugar, eggs, butter
a pound of each, but wiggled some
because the best life clearly
makes space in the heart for chocolate
spices to choice �� my preference cardamom
with just a brush of dundicut and sanam
vanilla to make it proper-done
baked oven-slow
sliced to double-bread thickness
buttered, and daintily consumed with white tea
or, cooled just enough to not die of
devoured by the handful, growling
swilling trash-black coffee all the while
in one ��s best life, dignity
is purely optional
