The Better Bear

once upon a time, deep in the woods
there lived �� me hopefully �� for a long time
but I gotta admit, the signs look grim
or rather the lack of them
no trails, no towns, no signal
precisely the opposite
of that brightly advertised
revelatory experience
unless one counts that weird smell
which might be a bear, or a marshland
somewhere over that next defile
where ideally instead
a classic gingerbread cottage
containing a pleasantly near-sighted
easily pushed monster
might be gently baked
while waiting on the hillside above
I might slake my thirst on some just-sweet
honey-flavored shake and fatten up
