Crowd Mind, Crowded Memory

when the cutest
of all sweet baby elephants
declared its memory fallible
and, in fact, atrocious
all we heard was the myth
all we saw were sweet limpid eyes
it forgot, as did we
those first spring moments
swans let go for trumpets
in perpetuity
all we see are fractures building
all we hear is an answer waiting
