n ��er mark upon twain
that resonant pulling �� stark frigid
migraine day, were it once a year
might be prepared for, treated as a challenge
trialed, tested, rewarded, a comfort given up
wrapped within wet leather, dried devoted
instead, everyday ritual degrades, dampens
backing off the hide in thin strips
just a little while more, forgetting
summer ��s dry, and spring ��s rains
fading that half-waxed surface in lifts
flaking tired capitulation to melt-wash
hand-red, hand-grey, hand-read
pulse-point slowing to leisure
deep water refrain
nothing beleaguered �� regard
occupation day, were it once a year
might of equal measure repair ululation
red tide boiling ashore, passing up-cycle
shellfish, bird, before hillside curls in
concrete buttress compression visible
an undulation, meters upon meters per second
bunkered below, precious things stored
stirred up, pulse-up, unfeedable tremors
rumbling memory of plenty
land-red, land-grey, land-read
some deep-water tannery coveted
anoxic toxin, a stain
self-bleached and holding �� stark rigid
