today, respect is given, or disrespect in portion
the soldier ��s fortune polished, lions in the gloaming
all the good and ill of human spilled unto the wire
throaty cries of empire coughed from greying muzzles
home before their fires lit, well pickled in their gins
balanced ill by cries for laying, steeled eggs a-mire
all good and ill of human lauded
all good and ill of human damned
di-pole, ware, the other hand
so let us then praise then soldiering, done grievous with compassion
or unfeeling mechanism simply moving, not lost to loot and rapine
logistics work and planning, minimizing costs of action
for here be monsters, and here be human
for good, for ill, for simply working
spreading with uneven will, wonderful or wondering
pick not the soldiers then, but solider, assessed singular and mild
individual to treat their ways within the roil of their crucible
presuming nothing, even fire, of their holding sorties
let us then define our actions as respect
providing all with field support, logistics, and good planning
leaving none a-hungry, nor in the field forgotten
