Brush Pass

as kettle ��s on, the door
wind, always stranger
this time wrapped in bells and leather
silks and feathers streaming
wanders in, ever welcome
checks the fire, hands some nettles
settles briefly spun to fettle
straightens pictures, kisses one
lifts a favorite, tucks my hair
a cup of tea, a lick of news
lifting, lifting, ever lifting
loved between and drifting
as kettle ��s on, the door
sweeps closed, still room sweet
with tea and canning
nettle jelly now secure
and far above, the mews a riot
happy tumbled wings review
