Chopped In Smoke

I wandered to the tower to hear the ravens speak
but the guide spoke instead
ill of the dead, steady in her application
ruminating leaden, beheading all compunction
while we waited discontented to avoid the traitors �� gate
but there upon the cusp of it, where we too mod for prisoners
stood grumpy in the fog, one quork struck guiding silence
where breath smoked out
where mist so became winged
there unto my shoulder, blade bill clacking good humor
came nameless, or dropped at least of human naming
said come let us be witness, do step into the river
gate gone against long government, of king and fall to empire
not trained in quip, but rhetoric did spill by thousand-hour
here then the puckish miscreant cried out his own name ��s banishment
here then significant forgotten, mouse hung and long unwritten
here then unto the tower where we reek of long confinement
here then unto the hour
into and out of binding
let old ones go to memory, let us dine upon the fainted flowers
pluck and sup upon the river, sworn some say to keep the power
but river twice is stepped in �� and flown a well-wound repetition
where queen and kin and Hadrian are grist wrought down to sours
whittering brew un-hopped and stewed, to send, or sent
to do, undo
I wandered from the tower having heard the raven speak
within same breath re-wandered to, all hours, same position
centered on long sooted stone before that stone was sooted
speak then, and be the spoken, imprison, be imprisoned
free and be well freeing, see, and walk among in freedom
