The Closet of Despair
November 12, 2020
the other night, chilled and desperate, there was some screaming into the void
like you do, from the back of the closet of despair, perhaps, with fingers in hair
and even if you ��re fresh out of hair like me, well, the old stare-too-long thing
is conclusively a thing
just, unexpectedly, a kindly voice of empty, and in the closet with me
the entire fucking void, all at once, in that panic-and-sweat sort of a way
where you think to yourself about all the wee undone things, and how now
you just won ��t
instead, with a kind word and somewhat a stutter �� it ��s hard to interact human
came a cup of the really good tea, the sort you find in the back of some unmarked shop
in a country you can ��t remember having been to, and a comfy chair, leather with cloth over
just out of storage
and it ��s like the beginning of some fairy tale, except instead of once up on a deep in the woods
came, so there I was, having just a smidge of a breakdown, hoping the soundproofing would hold
and the scream comes back with company, but sans s, cream, perfect to go in a hot cuppa
warm like company
you know how it goes with the rules for company, out the closet and getting the honey
into warm water from the kitchen of cold murder, so it won ��t have to be chiseled out the bear
and some mint, and candied ginger, and hello void �� do you like ginger �� have a couple
they ��re lovely
so the other night, chilled and desperate, came the closet of between world walls
always with tea and company, a stone hearth, a good fire, and the space between forever
chatting discrepancies, and greeting ceremonies and maybe next time a bit of jasmine
just staying there
