Sonnet to a Kitten
November 12, 2020
shoulder kitten ��s purring keeps me saner
my feathered topper hat to keep them dry
proper persons surely can ��t disdain her
here at the grocer ��s counter for meat pie
her lazy whisper sweet against my ear
deft claws burrowed in leather nest steadfast
advice upon the sausages quite clear
��til we move on to dairy at the last
cream in clotted glory and in double
into brass and steel licked down to drops
clinging to her whiskers for her trouble
then cleaning for an hour towards our flops
a-whirr the purr for home is glorious
tomorrow out again notorious
