was said we ��d never problems when the trains stopped
no more three-a-day ripping of the horn
blowing through pre-station crossings four times faster
than the posted speed
no more three-a-night mumble in the distance
before the rip, before the rumbled slip
of things in need
into a week of quiet become a month
and the sirens once or twice a week
that became ten, and then a silent none
a hard breath and a pause
of a nation ��s stirred rust
and here we are again, steel and brass call
rolling across six times in twenty-four or more
catching up on trains
we claim recovery
was said we ��d never problems when we engaged again
sirens more than trains descend, emergencies to tend
burnishing that oxidation familiarity
