A Warzone Piece

dropping in hot stopped, not petering out, nor with a blast, but like a switch
just the subtle rip of atmosphere, neither cast nor pulse in the envelope
a warzone peace
we ��d come in on contract, double risk, heavy for someone
two nation states in a third-rate hell trying to ring that call to heaven
and the price was right, so down the well
shipping in past grey high orbitals, obelisks to fortune
labeled grey upon grey in antiquated barcode
we deliver
over the etha this janky pop jingle
overlaying airspace volume and a countdown
and what the battle-hardened pants
baby skip jumper wicks by, armorless
full broadcast, not even a whisper of stealth
barcode on the side
landed, rattled, engaged, disengaged
the usual prattle and someone finally asks
civvy skiff, poking the bear that ��s a combat drop
fire and flux �� just, what
Sargent in supply, local guy, raises a vacuum-packed pizza
speedy delivery on the sly, no-one touches those guys
most expensive in the system, but they deliver anywhere
any time, any condition
and if one of ��em takes a hit, the next delivery ��s a rod from god
high castle looking down and saying
that one touched us, right there
if you time your order right
you can sneak a combat drop in under the umbrella
because it ��s better to face the armored professionals
than the god who never misses
