Letting the Wrong Ones In

you know how it goes
beet dye making for some art stuff
the hum, the hum, a vividly red right hand
vibrating under fluorescent light
a pause, a pause, time to make the bath bombs
the glow, the glow
to accidentally explode
biodegradable rainbow glitter one ��s self
the knock, the knock
distractedly answer door
wearing hard-beeswaxed longcoat
one scent resistant breather
because bath bombs of the French revolution
just plain stink
and still holding that glorious five pound bag
factory sealed citric acid
camera in the off hand ��
when making bath bombs
record everything
watch, camera eye wide
door-to-door religion sales-people
fresh black suits and pressed linen shirts
fading, fading, utterly ghost pale
social blunder, evade, evade
invite them in for
error, error
serve boiled coffee
discuss contract/consent ethics
gods of old, gods of cold hearts and prisons
ignore the gutted kitchen
politely decline sales of religion
listen to pulses climb
harum, harum
look, it's boiled coffee
I made it three times three
or nine times ground
an hour on the burner
two point five gallons in steel
before it feels
surreal
