To Starve or Feed

you know how it goes
which wolf do you feed
and everywhere that leads
and which wolf do you breed
to seed the wind
touching, touching, touching
and every story starves a wolf
empties out the heart
crust dry bone and tooth
but my heart is prairie grass
swaying thus and thus and thus
of tooth and bone come well replete
no two wolves here
a pack, a pack
running swift in summer ��s heat
whispering speeds beneath the mass
the pack that hunts
the pack that feeds
you know how it goes
show or starve
feed or carve
where I shall keep my dun green heart
I too shall keep my hungers
beloved at my back
and whisper like the wind ��s clean pass
where flows through me the reeling
a ripple in the being
to be the grass
o ��er paw and fur ��s crooned greeting
infinite ocean breathing
