Single Rule

I learned early, then, that whispers would be heard
that silence and the hammer were stronger than the word
that voiceless, one might just get hit
that speaking brought the repetition
that one could sit and take the strike however random turned
I learned a bit beyond that point that confusion paused the strike
and in the void one might then get back a little of one ��s own
and voiceless one might gain the knack
and speaking one might just lose track
and one could break the back in silence, hammer to the turn
and near me those thus learned spoke, ��Be silent still, be silent
and bow you to my will, and to my will be broken. ��
I learned my fill of silence, and too my fill of learning breaks
learned how each monster makes a placement of its ownership
learned voiced or voiceless binary
learned predator or target
learned the split was human, human in the reaping
and near me those thus learned spoke, ��No value here in speaking
no value here in human being, no value here to keep ��
and the judder now is silence, and the jitter now is, ��Speak. ��
lest of command be broken and by command be broken
lest of silence be broken and by silence be broken
lest of the breaking burden, and of the burden break
lest broken, just be broken, just be broken to the break
I learned early, then, that whispers would be heard
that the single rule was everyone sought breaking to the word
