you take cold coffee, milk, some scotch
big old glass, an American portion
lay it back by slow sips
more milk than coffee, coffee than scotch
call it retribution, punitive day
slowly pull it in, vivisection psyche
collapsing around cold comfort
under the mushroom's gills
edges of the room slough in, depressed awake
glass of blues, solace an ocean's drink
striking an emotional balance
swinging from the outside, self sold
comfort gripped hold
surrounded
