Eight Pints For Billy

A passing nod to casual lurch
passing lager to the birch
scotch and water scotch and soda
tropic and passive at the center
tossed gladly into thirsty roots
booted back where thirst stood
and blood behind the eyes glints out
stomach caught in the march
cheerful in roiled discontent
less liquor now, and more's lament
