it is the same book, know you not
that I keep the dreams in
and waking find the harrowed heart
where dreaming feet have been
it is the same book, belief in few
where belief began
where first the word regained threshold
where first the heart ran
where the binding's ragged
know you there I wept
or careless grew long to forget
a word once thought is kept
it is the same book, rewritten new
that unshelved keeps myself
and hungry finds the meat of heart
sundered swallowed self
it is the same book, cyclic mode
where waking dream kens
where lasting dreams reworked the whole
where self rewritten dens
