the poplars are dying again
pallid yellow sick of the jaundiced man's hand
like him, they're moving on
dropping bits of themselves, sandy memories like rice thrown back
the pallid man's hand against the floor scrabbling
chafing away, baring the bones of skin just hanging in
then blown to stay, grey the sallow sun
one - winter's on, he's gone, leaves drawn down
blind, close out the lawn, bone's shadow against the sky
dye not holding - sallow man, again, when
the poplars are dying again
