An X1.1-class flare was observed on the west limb from Catania sunspot 82 (NOAA Active Region 2994). Currently no increase is observed in the GOES proton flux, however it will be closely monitored. It is also too early to see a coronal mass ejection in SOHO/LASCO data, but it is not excluded that this X flare is associated with a coronal mass ejection and it will be also closely monitored. This particular region is currently very active and had produced already several M-class flares in the latest 24 hours. Further M and X class may occur.
