Northern Ireland weather: Forecast for week ahead shows a dry start but little sunshine

The Met Office has issued an update on the outlook for the coming days

While the beginning of the new working week will bring some

sunny spells, little sunshine will be on offer in the coming days.

Monday will start off dry and bright with a few patches of cloud before clouding over from the west in the afternoon. Eastern areas may see some brightness at times.

Wednesday will continue breezy with a few showers or spells of rain, which could be heavy in places. Thursday will bring rain to start the day but it will not be as windy. It will soon turn drier in the afternoon but remaining cloudy.

Monday:

Any showers quickly dying out in the morning as winds ease. Dry with sunny spells before outbreaks of rain arrive from the west in the evening. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cold and windy with showers on Tuesday, wintry over high ground. Winds and showers easing on Wednesday. Turning milder with some rain on Thursday.

On Thursday, cloud and outbreaks of rain will slowly move across the north of the UK, with heavier bursts for the northwest at first, while the south is more likely to stay dry with sunny intervals. Strong winds will be mainly confined to the north early in the day.
