One person has died following a road traffic collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in Belfast
city
centre on Saturday night.
Some streets in the vicinity of Belfast City Hall were closed to traffic at the junction of Donegall Square West and Donegall Square South following the incident, which occurred at around 7.30pm.
People are being asked to please avoid the area.

spokesperson said on Saturday night: "Streets in the vicinity of Belfast City Hall are closed to traffic following a serious road traffic collision at the junction of Donegall Square West and Donegall Square South. Please avoid the area."
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) confirmed that one person had been taken to hospital following a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.
In a statement, an NIAS spokesperson said: "We received a 999 call at 19:40 on Saturday 28 January following reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in Belfast City Centre.
"NIAS dispatched two Emergency Crews and a HART crew to the incident.
"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital."
On Sunday morning, a PSNI spokesman said: "Police can confirm that a man aged in his 20s has died following a road traffic collision on Donegall Square West, Belfast on Saturday 28th January.
"The collision, involving a bus and a male pedestrian, occurred shortly before 7.40pm on Saturday evening. The male pedestrian sadly died from his injuries. The driver of the bus was spoken to at the scene.
"Sergeant Amanda McIvor has appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dash-cam footage or mobile phone footage which could assist officers with their enquiries to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1551 28/01/2023."
