That URL is missing the access token that is supposed to be 10 random characters, so it not working is correct.
When and how did you get this URL? If you try again now, does it work?

I go to gemini://bbs.geminispace.org/settings/avatar/letters-numbers-here but all of the links there have the form gemini://bbs.geminispace.org/settings/avatar/?avatar-id in elpher. Hm… Looks like elpher reads naked "?number" links wrong 🤔

The issues is fixed in elpher, yay :)
Whenever I choose an avatar in elpher I get: When attempting to retrieve [gemini link] Gemini server reports PERMANENT FAILURE for this request: 51 Not found
