Should be doable.
One can already disable the like notifications in Settings.

I did disable like notifications, but I seem to still get like notifications in my notifications queue -- they just aren't mailed to me. Anyway, what I really want is for the word "like" to appear nowhere in the interface ;)

Ah, that sounds like a bug... I'll check if the code is actually honoring all the notification flags.

Implemented for v3.0.
I'm a bit allergic to the whole "likes" thing, and maybe I'm not alone in this. I'd be happy to have an option which, when enabled, completely removes all mention of likes in the interface (notifications, tallies of numbers of likse, the links for "liking" posts, and anything else).
