As many as 24 newly arrived asylum seekers have not been offered State
provided accommodation so far this week.
A spokesperson for the Department of Children, Equality, Disability,
Integration and Youth said that 17 international protection applicants
were not offered State provided accommodation yesterday.
This is in addition to the seven single men who were not given
accommodation the previous day.
It follows an announcement on Tuesday that newly arrived adult asylum
seekers, without children, would no longer be offered accommodation as
entry to emergency accommodation at the Citywest Transit Hub in Dublin
had been paused.

In a statement, the department said that the hub was at capacity and
that there was a nationwide shortage of accommodation for international
protection applicants.
The department has confirmed that families with children will still be
offered accommodation.
