I was blessed this morning with an opportunity to watch the sunrise this morning, for about the first 45 minutes after 5am AKDT. The cloud cover was ideal — not too thick but not too thin. I used a parking lot on the east side of the UAF hill. Unfortunately, there are some hills to east and northeast blocking the horizon, but there aren't many ideal locations to chose from in Fairbanks. I think this photo best captures the experience:
Here are the rest of the photos. I used the dusk/dawn mode on my S5300 for all photos. I didn't do any other editing, except in one photo I had to clone out a bad spot using the gimp clone and blur tools. I think my S5300 has a blob of burnt out pixels. I found a similar camera for $20 at Value Village recently and am planning to give that a try soon.
As always, all glory goes to the Creator of heaven and earth, who paints these beautiful canvases each morning. It amazes me to imagine how many of these beautiful scenes must be visible around the world each morning, many enjoyed by people, and perhaps many more unobserved or overlooked by all but the Creator himself.
