Several years into 5e’s run, WotC, the publishers of D&D, started becoming blatantly sociopolitical in their products in ways that I found off-putting.
I see it more as it catching up with normal society (and they are many years behind Paizo, Green Ronin etc in this regard).
D&D used to be pretty extreme. Everyone is hetero and everyone is racially segregated. And Gygax’ views on Chivington etc were outliers even for his era.
I’m pretty happy WotC is catching up. They’ve been doing it so slowly carefully and gently over the past decade that I got a li’l frustrated in how slowly and reluctantly they’ve done it but now we’re through that tunnel and things are pretty good.
If only their actually game books could be better designed from a gameplay perspective. 😭
LMoP was so awesome but then they really lost it in a sea of milestone and railroads and tedium.
