Re: "Email - Any suggestions for email? I've been transitioning..."

I use mailbox.org and am pretty happy with it. I moved away from ProtonMail because it was harder to use my own email client (Thunderbird) with it - which is what I prefer to do now-a-days.

I use gmail behind a personal domain with forwarding by nearlyfreespeech.net. I consider the domain and forwarding to be the important part as it means I'm not tied to one email provider, and I've been using + happy with nearlyfreespeech.net for a long time. It's not free, though :)

Never use a provider which doesn’t give you IMAP and SMTP access.

I am currently using ProtonMail, which I am very happy with. I have used Tutanota and Disroot in the past, and they were pretty good; but Proton takes the cake in my opinion.

Have a look at s/Misfin, too. Misfin is an email protocol for the smolweb, as I understand it.

Good discussion. I've been looking to replace gmail myself. Been eyeing up tutanota for a while now. Haven't look into it in a while but idealy one that's librejs compliant would be nice.

I have been using Tuta for years, I recommend it.

It's nice to see people taking action to reclaim their privacy and their data. Since you have your own domain I think choosing "the right provider" is less critical since you can always change later in a few clicks.

I would strongly recommend you to setup a re-mailer service like simplelogin or addy anon. Especially if you have spam issues. You can create endless new mail address all using your domain.

Not only you can identify which companies are spamming you but you can also easily disable them, thus stopping the in-flow.

Email - Any suggestions for email? I've been transitioning away from my Gmail account to an address at my personal domain name. Right now I'm using privateemail.com for hosting. The cost is reasonable, but the spam filtering is not great.
