Re: "how to kill decentralized networks (by ploum)"

i was commenting that back then, when google had xmpp (i thought it was xmpp since the beginning, i didn't know it was a compatibility layer), it was also because their slogan was 'dont be evil'. then eric schmidt came and changed it to 'do the right thing'. i think he says in his book 'how google works' that he was surprised that during the corporate meeting someone would oppose a decition which would bring money because it doesnt correspond to not being evil slogan. and i think since they do the right thing, they decided xmpp is not their thing.

XMPP is better than ever, TBH. I use it every day since the days of dinosaurs.

how to kill decentralized networks (by ploum) — i just read this article, very interesting. i never thought meta's involvement with fediverse could be this dangerous. and i never knew this details about google and xmpp.
