The most significative difference between gemini and the smol web is that Gemini is an intentional effort for simplicity, while a small web might be small for whatever reasons.

i think it is important that gemini is standardized, defined.
smol web does not define an html subset to use. i would like to have some html subset defined, which is simple but yet contains some useful modern/recently added features.

i think that gemini is a oversimplification.
I like the idea of having your own style, this removes from the creativity of the site's maker but i think its a way better user experience.
I think that gemini should have some decent multimedia support, in a way, i think my wishes contradict Gemini's missions, i would like something like it to replace the web.
A big thing that i am thinking about it, what to do about interactivity, we have moved apps from apps to the web, but how would be better?
I like the fact that on the web you can have math articles with math formul
and stuff, and you can alsk visualise it.
Maybe an sepparate app would work?

i think for that (replace the web) it is just necessary to define a standard which is a subset of web.
http 1.1 is not that, we need a subset of latest http and html, very small, preferrably without js support.
but it will be very hard to agree on such subset.

I don't think the exact subset is that important. I'd be willing to compromise, even to limit myself to a gemini-analogue. But... I'm focusing on following the "movement" rather than leading it... The way I see it for the smol web to be meaningful we need to 1. find ourselves 2. gather ourselves 3. lead ourselves... but it's a long, long way to Tiperary
