[2023-09-29T00:34:40Z] <Guest59> how do i get intel-ucode on kiss [2023-09-29T06:32:40Z] <sewn> Hi [2023-09-29T12:39:12Z] <Guest44> Hi [2023-09-29T12:40:36Z] <Guest44> Sorry, I'm a newbie, just wanted to know if kiss linux is still active, I see last changes are 2021 ... [2023-09-29T12:44:11Z] <sujo2> Still active, but on community repos [2023-09-29T12:44:28Z] <sujo2> <https://kisscommunity.org/> [2023-09-29T12:51:50Z] <Guest44> Great news! thank you very much, so, for installation should I use the the manual here: https://kisslinux.org/install [2023-09-29T12:52:07Z] <Guest44> I remember I tried some time ago, but got some errors.. [2023-09-29T12:52:21Z] <Guest44> not finding packages or others.. [2023-09-29T12:53:15Z] <sujo> That would be outdated repos [2023-09-29T12:53:19Z] <sujo> use this one instead [2023-09-29T12:53:23Z] <sujo> <https://kisscommunity.org/kiss/install/> [2023-09-29T12:55:57Z] <Guest44> GREAT! Thank you very much and have a nice day! [2023-09-29T12:56:12Z] <sujo> h2h [2023-09-29T14:55:16Z] <Guest33> Not sure what distro I want to use, any recommendations? It'll be running on a laptop and I prefer WMs over DEs. The laptop isn't powerful, so a source based distro won't do. I need access to a wide range of software, preferably not flatpak or snap. [2023-09-29T15:07:57Z] <Guest33> I just want to be able to easily slap on a WM and have low memory/processor use as much as possible [2023-09-29T15:32:32Z] <sewn> Guest33: alpine [2023-09-29T15:40:31Z] <Guest33> why alpine? [2023-09-29T15:40:53Z] <Guest33> Would debian too heavyweight for me? [2023-09-29T15:40:58Z] <Guest33> be [2023-09-29T15:49:51Z] <Guest33> nevermind, debian uses systemd [2023-09-29T15:51:14Z] <Guest33> There's also Artix. [2023-09-29T16:10:51Z] <sewn> i use alpine over kiss because i find it very lightweight and simple [2023-09-29T16:11:00Z] <sewn> compared to distributions like gentoo or void [2023-09-29T21:06:57Z] <kmf> Guest33: personally I always slap slackware on any system which kisslinux won't do, can it be not linux? FreeBSD is pretty minimal and has a big range of software, doesn't have flatpak or snap, and as long as you use UFS the memory usage is low (although I would use ZFS still), also have you heard of tinycore? [2023-09-29T23:35:55Z] <phinxy> thats for the VNC on wayland tip, wlvncc works flawlessly [2023-09-29T23:36:27Z] <phinxy> at least for connecting to qemu vnc server
