2020-11-16T01:59:16 #kisslinux <dilyn> sh4rm4^bnc: why do you think a haskell program wouldn't build on musl?
2020-11-16T01:59:18 #kisslinux <dilyn> re shellcheck
2020-11-16T02:20:34 #kisslinux <sh4rm4^bnc> dilyn, because GHC is such a PITA to compile from source
2020-11-16T02:20:43 #kisslinux <sh4rm4^bnc> not specifically musl related
2020-11-16T02:27:35 #kisslinux <dilyn> al
2020-11-16T02:27:38 #kisslinux <dilyn> 100% agree
2020-11-16T02:27:43 #kisslinux <dilyn> github.com/dilyn-corner/KISS-haskell
2020-11-16T02:27:44 #kisslinux <dilyn> ;)
2020-11-16T02:32:59 #kisslinux <sh4rm4^bnc> these are binaries? -> https://github.com/redneb/ghc-alt-libc/releases
2020-11-16T02:33:56 #kisslinux <dilyn> yeah i make use of those in ghc-bin
2020-11-16T02:34:03 #kisslinux <dilyn> or bootstrap rather
2020-11-16T02:34:52 #kisslinux <sh4rm4^bnc> i'm *really* interested into this project https://github.com/diku-kmc/kleenexlang
2020-11-16T02:35:00 #kisslinux <sh4rm4^bnc> does it build with your ghc ?
2020-11-16T02:57:42 #kisslinux <konimex> I'm surprised that GHC doesn't have a hard-depend on gcc
2020-11-16T03:18:27 #kisslinux <dilyn> it very well might i've never built it on wyverkiss...
2020-11-16T03:19:03 #kisslinux <dilyn> I could try to build that project but i'd have to rebuild ghc (haven't had it installed since the last update), but pandoc builds just fine so i *assume* anything else technically should
2020-11-16T03:19:42 #kisslinux <dilyn> since it builds with cabal you would just install cabal and use that for the easiest solution
2020-11-16T05:10:34 #kisslinux <dilyn> claudia: re the reddit question on repos; it's so hard to tell at what point the question is a genuinely good one that points to poor documentation versus a poorly informed user
2020-11-16T05:11:52 #kisslinux <dilyn> in the case of the repo question, i think it's the latter. wrt to the kernel question (the latest one about firmwares), i think it points to a larger issue regarding documentation on how firmware works in general, and graphics and booting work specifically. Information on these topics is highly fragmented, so we can't technically blame the user (I learned everything I know from synthesizing documentation with trial and error for fiftee
2020-11-16T15:59:52 #kisslinux <ominous_anonymou> is anyone else having issues with SOWM where moving windows is super slow/laggy? Resizing doesn't appear to be as impacted, just moving.
2020-11-16T16:22:51 #kisslinux <mcpcpc[m]> ominous_anonymou: not really. just. opened it in a virtual machine at work. it’s pretty snappy. did a comparison to a xwm, which is comparable. i think the slight “lag”is prevalent in most xlib/xcb based WMs when moving windows. just my two cents.
2020-11-16T16:56:19 #kisslinux <ominous_anonymou> weird. one of my VMs does it, the other one doesn't. Only difference is the newer VM is a newer SOWM version. Also, the lag only occurs with startx from console... I can create VNC and RDP sessions and its fine when run through them.
2020-11-16T16:56:28 #kisslinux <ominous_anonymou> must be missing something on the newer VM i guess
2020-11-16T17:35:49 #kisslinux <claudia02> dilynm: You are so forgiving :p
2020-11-16T17:36:39 #kisslinux <claudia02> The documentation in 'install kiss' about the repos is so well written that you can copy it literally :D
2020-11-16T17:37:30 #kisslinux <claudia02> About the kernel config. Y there is many stuff which one might not know..But we have this not yet linked kernel wiki entry.
2020-11-16T17:38:37 #kisslinux <claudia02> muevoid: LFS provides a fix for webkit2gtk and icu 68. echo 'add_compile_definitions("U_DEFINE_FALSE_AND_TRUE=1")' >> Source/WTF/wtf/CMakeLists.txt
2020-11-16T17:38:45 #kisslinux <claudia02> http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/x/webkitgtk.html
2020-11-16T17:38:53 #kisslinux <claudia02> I am trying that out right now.
2020-11-16T17:46:05 #kisslinux <claudia02> The build passed the error. Looks promising.
2020-11-16T19:18:55 #kisslinux <dilyn> claudia: I'm a very forgiving individual :c
2020-11-16T19:19:18 #kisslinux <dilyn> I think the install guide is essentially perfect and the confusion about it just points to a poorly equipped user
2020-11-16T19:19:20 #kisslinux <dilyn> :v :v :v
